With increased threat of wildfires in urban settings across the US, people are finding their homes uninsurable. A critical aspect of reducing the risk of fire to homes is to have a broader collective plan at the scale the community.

OurTownHall Fire empowers Municipal governments, such as fire departments, and HOAs to help organize their communities toward effective fire mitigation.

Planning with CBOs Directory

The first step in engagement is to have a solid understanding of the community. OurTownHall Directory can help answer the following critical questions:

  1. What's the make-up of my community?

  2. Who are the community-based organizations ( CBOs) representing its different parts and how to start collaboration?

  3. What sectors of the community are missing from my engagement strategy?

Sustaining Enagement with “Fire Ambassadors”

Since 2025, OurTownHall has had the opportunity to collaborate with the Colorado Community Risk Reduction Division to scope their immediate need for technology that can support a Fire Ambassador program.

OurTownHall Hub can serve as a technical assistance platform that enables Fire Departments to empower community leaders (“Fire Ambassadors”) to organize mitigation efforts in their neighborhoods. These ambassadors can help coordinate the efforts to fire proof homes at a neighborhood level.

Benefit to Ambassadors

  1. A centralized hub for data entry and knowledge sharing.

  2. Adaptable to Ambassadors’ busy schedules.

  3. Streamlining coordination of community activities.

Benefit to Municipalities

  1. Efficiently collect data at scale from a network of Ambassadors,

  2. Safekeep institutional memory, and simplify onboarding of new ambassadors without any risks to ongoing projects.

  3. Share critical information with Ambassadors in a timely manner
