OurTownHall is a platform that empowers community organization to address major societal challenges.

We are proud to announce that OurTownHall, a project of Calm Water Group, has received funding from NSF SBIR Phase I for 2023.

Why stakeholder management matters to environmental justice

Excerpt from Community Technology Fellowship Webinar

Most community engagement initiatives today are supported by one-off and time-limited public meetings and workshops, with little persistence of the data around the community, interactions, decisions, outcomes and impacts - across projects and time.

We seek to provide a platform for sustained, long-term engagement across time, projects, sectors, agencies, communities and places. Ultimately we are here to empower communities, create a community engagement pipeline for agencies, and to accelerate the advancement of community-driven planning and infrastructure projects.

Undoing historical injustice

Governments have historically struggled with balancing the needs of communities versus industries - which has resulted in the most vulnerable people being placed near the greatest amount of pollution (e.g. factories, diesel facilities, etc.). Often communities do not have the resources and are not given the voice to be on equal footing with the private sector.

Governments at all levels are now required through policies and mandates to undo these injustices by identifying and meaningfully engaging environmental justice (EJ) communities. We are here to support government agencies and Nonprofits in the transition to sustained, meaningful and inclusive engagement.

We seek to accelerate equitable stakeholder engagement and management

Our aim is to empower underserved communities to address major societal challenges such as climate change, disaster risk reduction, food systems, biodiversity, and pollution.

We invite you to take a four-minute survey to help us better understand the challenges that you have been facing during the engagement process.

Whether you represent a government agency, or a community based organization (CBO) ,i.e, none-profits, local and neighborhood organizations, etc, we would love to hear from you.

Tell us about your challenges by taking our survey

“ I don’t do surveys, but I want to share”

If you prefer a one-on-one conversation to taking a survey, or are just interested about what we do and have questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
